This career opportunity is available with the announced retirement (June 12, 2020) of longtime Town Attorney Robert (Bob) Slentz, who has represented the Town effectively for over 32 years. The Town Attorney’s Office currently consists of the Town Attorney, two Senior Assistant Town Attorneys, and support staff. The FY 2020 departmental budget is $910,939.
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and seven to ten years of experience in Colorado municipal law or equivalent are required. Strong preference for expertise in land use law, zoning, and development to address upcoming I-25 Crystal Valley Parkway Interchange project and numerous entitlements. Active Colorado law license and good standing with the Colorado Supreme Court are strongly preferred, but the Town Council will also accept applications from candidates able to obtain admission to the Colorado Bar quickly (on motion) from a reciprocal jurisdiction. Residency within Castle Rock’s municipal boundaries appreciated. Hiring range is $170,000 - $200,000 DOQE. Comprehensive benefits. Relocation assistance subject to negotiation.
