Public Works Director - City of Scotts Valley, California

The City of Scotts Valley has a $12.9 million general fund budget and $20 million operating budget citywide and 60 budgeted full-time employees within the departments of Administration (City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk), Administrative Services, Police, Community Development (Planning and Building), and Public Works, which includes a Parks and Recreation division. The City also operates its own wastewater treatment plant/recycled water facility. Separate special districts provide water and fire services.
Appointed by and reporting to the City Manager, the Public Works Director will oversee a FY 2020/21 budget of $7.3 million and a committed staff of 20.5 FTEs working in Engineering, Maintenance, Parks and Recreation, and Wastewater Divisions. TheDepartment oversees planning, design, construction, maintenance, repairs and operation services for City infrastructure.
Any combination equivalent to graduation from an engineering school of recognized standing with major work in civil engineering or other relevant field and extensive experience in progressively responsible public works, some of which will have been in a supervisory capacity and included the management of major public works functions, development of capital programs and experience with department administration including budgeting, personnel and procurement. Possession of a certificate to practice as a registered professional Civil Engineer issued by the State of California is desirable but not required.
The annual salary range is $122,148 to $171,888 (DOQE).
