Public Works Director - City of Benicia, California
The City of Benicia, is a beautiful waterfront community of 28,000 on the San Francisco Bay, and is known for its small-town charm and quality of life and is home to numerous award-winning restaurants, schools and parks. Benicia is nestled on the East Bay shoreline in southwest Solano County. The City encompasses 13 square miles and is located 35 miles northeast of San Francisco, and 57 miles southwest of Sacramento. The Public Works Director provides leadership, administrative oversight and policy direction to the various divisions and organizational units of the comprehensive and broad-based Department of Public Works. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, relationship based and inspirational manager with an active communication style. The candidate will also be empathetic and fair, while being firm in promoting a positive environment of accountability. The position requires seven years of experience, increasing in responsibility, in municipal water/wastewater operations, municipal engineering, land development, street construction or maintenance, including four years of administrative and management responsibility. An educational background equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in civil engineering, public administration or a related field. Master’s Degree in related field is desirable. Competitive annual salary range of $133,025- $161,693 DOQ, with attractive benefits.
