The City’s new Police Chief must be a collaborative, community oriented and accessible leader with high standards, integrity and professionalism. The successful applicant will be a dynamic, self-confident, humble, calm, and an engaging individual that embraces progressive and responsive policing, supports diverse communities, increases accountability, leads innovation, strengthens the Police Department as a role model in policing, and showcases the excellent work of the Department. The Police Chief is additionally expected to be an active participant within the City’s executive team for achieving and leading citywide organizational goals. Typical knowledge and abilities include a Bachelor’s degree, experience as Police Chief, and/or senior level experience as a direct subordinate of a Police Chief. Experience typically includes 10 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal policing with 5 or more of these years in a management capacity. The ability to speak Spanish, a Master’s degree and/or leadership programs are highly desirable. An appointment will be made based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The annual salary range for this position is $213,910 - $260,009 with excellent benefits.
