The Newark Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency providing 24/7 public safety services to the community including Police, Records and Communications, a Dispatch Center, and Animal Services. The Department is comprised of 70 full-time staff (58 sworn) assigned to three divisions: Field Operations, Support Services, and the Office of the Chief.
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job is qualifying. The minimum education requirement is a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university; a master’s degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of broad and extensive experience in all major areas of police work, including five years in a command position with a municipal law enforcement agency and a track record of contributions and advancements in the profession.
The salary range for this position is $234,748.80-$281,694.40 annually, not including specialty pays and other compensation.
