The City of Los Banos, California is seeking a proactive, hands-on Police Chief to lead Los Banos Police Department into the future. Located directly in the center of California, Los Banos is within driving distance of the coast, the mountains, and Silicon Valley, while providing affordable housing options. The City of Los Banos has a Council/Manager form of government, and a strong financial outlook.
The Los Banos Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency comprised of 48 sworn members and 36 professional employees. The Department will move into a new $28 million, state-of-the-art Police facility in October 2023. Critical tasks for the incoming Police Chief are helping to manage the negative impacts of homelessness, and strategizing how the Department will meet a growing city’s needs.
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job is qualifying. The minimum education requirement is a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Police Science, Criminal Justice, Public or Business Administration, or related field. The minimum experience requirement is at least five years of professional, command level management experience with a law enforcement agency, including three years of supervisory experience.
The salary range for this position is $167,040 - $213,204 annually, with excellent benefits provided. Actual salary will be based on the experience of the successful candidate.
