The City of Fort Bragg is a vibrant coastal community in scenic Mendocino County located approximately 165 miles north of San Francisco. The City occupies 2.7 square miles with a population of approximately 7,200. Despite its small size, it is the largest city on the coast between San Francisco and Eureka and is the service and retail hub for the entire Mendocino coast. The new Police Chief must approachable, collaborative, and highly visible within the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity, approachability and a hands-on management style. The typical background and experience required for this exciting opportunity includes a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including significant management and administrative experience. An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is highly desirable. An appointment will be made based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The annual salary range for this position is currently from $139,713 to $169,832 with an excellent benefits packet.
