Information Technology Director - City of Santa Barbara, CA

Idyllically located on the central California coast, Santa Barbara comprises 21 square miles with a culturally diverse population of approximately 92,000 and enjoys a nearly perfect climate year-round. The Information Technology Department is newly established, and the successful candidate will serve as its first Director.  Comprised of 18 positions including an Information Technology Manager and 2 Information Technology Supervisors, the Department has a combined operating and capital improvement budget of approximately $5.1 million.  The technically proficient and professional staff team has responsibilities for network infrastructure, geographic information systems, enterprise applications and web services.  The Information Technology Director is an integral member of the executive team and a leader throughout the organization for maintaining, building, advancing and achieving citywide automation and technology solutions.  Applicants must have 8 years of recent progressively responsible experience in information technology ; with at least 5 years of management or executive experience, and a Bachelor’s Degree preferably supplemented by training and certification in information technology management practices.  A master’s degree is desirable.  The annual salary range of the position is $161,225 to $195,970, and the City provides an excellent benefit package.
