Human Resources Director - County of Santa Barbara, California

The County of Santa Barbara is seeking the Director of Human Resources for oversight of all human resources functions inclusive of labor relations and negotiations, organizational development, and compliance with employment laws and requirements.  The Director serves under the leadership of County Executive Office.  With the savvy of a strategic leader and with the technical and tactical knowledge of an experienced manager, the ideal candidate is a relationship-builder who will further the Department's success and implement plans to fulfill the Department's mission, goals and existing commitments; and both own and strengthen the Department's progress in a professional, spirited and collaborative manner.  The position requires a combination of education and experience for fulfilling the responsibilities of the position that typically includes a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, human resources administration, or a related field; 7 years of increasingly complex human resources management experience in a full-service municipal (county, city, special district or educational institution) environment; and at least 3 years of experience as a supervisor or in a senior management capacity. A Master’s degree is highly desirable. The County is prepared to offer an attractive and competitive salary that will be determined based on the experience and qualifications.  The expected salary upon hire of $180,000 to $215,000 and the County provides an excellent benefit package. This salary reflects the expected range for hire, however; the salary is negotiable depending on qualifications (the top of the range is $259,917).
