The County of Santa Barbara is seeking an innovative, progressive, collaborative, action- and outcome-oriented and communicative professional to serve as General Services Department Director. The ideal candidate will support the County/Department vision, mission, and values; continue and expand the Department’s progress and successes; lead a great team into the future, and complete projects and goals in a timely manner. The successful candidate will serve under the leadership of County Executive Office and be responsible for overseeing the Facilities-Maintenance, Capital Projects, Energy & Physical Security Division, Vehicle Operations & Real Property Division, and Administration, Finance & Purchasing Division. Key goals of the position include: project management, implementing best practices and efficiency for purchasing and procurement, championing facility improvements, training and succession planning, reducing the County’s carbon footprint, improving customer service and satisfaction, and enhancing cost-recovery. The position requires a combination of education and experience typically carried out by a General Services Director such as a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s Degree and 7 years of increasingly responsible administrative or management experience in a full-service municipal environment. The County is prepared to offer an attractive and competitive salary that will be determined based on the experience and qualifications. The current annual salary is $215,000 and the County provides an excellent benefit package.
