To be “a leading provider of transportation options delivering innovative and high-performing services within a multi-modal network that transforms the social, environmental and economic well-being of the diverse communities we serve,” Long Beach Transit seeks an Executive Director/Vice President of Organizational Development and Administration (formerly known as Employee and Labor Relations) to advance the agency’s human resources strategy and talent development programs. The Executive Director/Vice President oversees a $10.5 million budget and 28 professionals encompassing the 5 operational divisions of Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Risk, Training and Development, and Environmental Health and Safety.
The ideal candidate has the qualities of an innovator, motivating team builder, and problem solver who likes change, an action oriented environment, and collaborative leadership. The successful candidate will be relied upon to introduce new perspectives and experiences for enhancing department operations, implementing continuous improvement strategies, achieving agency goals, facilitating change, recruiting high performing individuals, and fostering customer service. The ideal candidate is a change agent to refocus the organization.
Candidates must have general Human Resource knowledge and supervisory experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Management or related field is required. Applicants must additionally have a minimum of 10 years of human resources management experience with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role. Some public sector experience is preferred, and a Master’s degree is highly desirable. The annual salary range of the position is $160,000 - $185,000, and Long Beach Transit provides competitive executive level benefits.
