Located in California’s Wine County Region, the County of Sonoma lies just north of Marin County, west of Napa County, and less than 30 miles from San Francisco. Encompassing nine cities, more than a third of Sonoma County’s almost 500,000 residents live in the City of Santa Rosa, the county seat, and a quarter in unincorporated areas. The Sonoma County Economic Development Department/Board (EDD/EDB) provides services to encourage the startup, retention, and expansion of Sonoma County businesses and jobs by promoting Sonoma County as an attractive place to do business. The EDD/EDB fosters job growth by providing local businesses, including those in minority and underserved communities, with tools to help them prosper while developing a workforce strategy driven by local employer needs. The Board seeks a pro-active and solution-oriented leader with exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven track record of establishing community partnerships and applying innovation in development and execution of programs. This candidate will be a coalition builder and have the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationship with elected officials, public agencies’ representatives, community organizations, and groups of diverse stakeholders, to advance the economic goals of the community. The next Executive Director will be politically astute and recognize and champion the County’s diversity, vibrant cultures, populations, and economic visions of Sonoma County and its varied communities across all demographics and socio-economic levels to advance the County’s mission to enrich the quality of life in Sonoma County through superior public services.
The salary range is $153,340 - $186,379. However, in addition to the base salary, the position receives a cash allowance of approximately $600 per month. Combined, the annual salary is $160,540-$193,579. Placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.
