The City of Encinitas is a young, progressive city of 63,000 residents that pride themselves on being five distinct communities thriving as ONE great city known for its striking natural beauty, recreational opportunities and free-spiritedness. Reporting to the City Manager the Director oversees a department of 53 talented full-time employees within Engineering and Planning Divisions with a FY 2019-20 budget of $9.9M.  The Director will enjoy a dynamic and exciting environment where resources are provided and shared to accomplish quality projects.  The person selected for this position will be an outstanding communicator, personable, approachable, a team player, and an effective listener. 

Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree plus eight years of professional managerial experience in a local government agency in development services, planning, engineering or public administration, including three years of supervisory experience. Coastal Act experience is essential for success in this role. The annual salary range for this position is $126,210 to $195,793; appointment DOQE.
