The City of Hayward (estimated population 158,241) is located in Alameda County, on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay, 25 miles southeast of San Francisco, 14 miles south of Oakland, 26 miles north of San Jose, and 10 miles west of the Livermore Valley. The City of Hayward is organized into 12 major departments and has 916.3 full-time equivalent positions and a FY 2022/23 budget of $401.3 million; General Fund budget of $194.7 million. The Finance Department has a FY 2023 budget of $7.35 million and 34.5 full-time employees. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this position will assist in managing and directing the Finance Department’s Accounting & Payroll Division and the Revenue Billing & Collections Division. The Finance Director seeks a local government professional with strong technical knowledge in municipal finance, including governmental fund accounting, preparing internal and external financial reports, financial forecasting, and experience preparing the Annual City’s Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Single Audit and State Controller’s Report.

The annual salary range is $154,086.40 to $187,262.40. Placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.
