City Manager - City of Camarillo, California

The City of Camarillo (69,850 pop.) is one of California’s safest and most desirable communities.  Located in Ventura County, residents and visitors enjoy cool ocean breezes from the Pacific Ocean just 9-miles away, more than 300 days of sunshine a year and average temperatures in the low 70s. Camarillo is a preferred location for high-tech, retail and specialty businesses with a highly educated workforce, modern industrial buildings, and strong relationships with local business leaders and other government agencies.  

The City is recognized for its organizational stability, fiscal responsibility, and service delivery.  Public safety is provided by the Ventura County Fire Protection District and the Ventura County Sheriff Department, and contracts provide for Planning and Building services, Library management, and refuse and recycling collection. Under the Council-Manager form of government, the City Manager is responsible for municipal operations, maintaining the City’s conservative financial practices, and safeguarding the City’s ability to maintain service levels.  

Proven city management experience in municipal finance/ budgeting, economic development, and workforce jobs and housing; managing state and regional influences on the delivery of services, implementing district elections, and managing a contract city, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a background in implementing best practices, and sustaining a high performing team are required, as is a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university.  Five to ten years of experience commensurate with serving as a City Manager is desired. The current annual salary of the position is $255,528, and the City provides an excellent benefit package.
