The City Engineer will serve as a critical member of the City’s management team and provide information and recommendations regarding operations and assist in making decisions related to all facets of municipal government. This position will supervise, review and coordinate all engineering activities, including design engineering, development, transportation and construction management and will work with staff to resolve work problems within the scopes of engineering projects and make technical engineering decisions, prepare a variety of reports, special studies, and participate in meetings and conferences with City Boards and Commissions, the City Council. This position will prepare and administer the Engineering department operating budget, direct and forecast any additional funds needed for staffing equipment, materials and supplies and implement any mid-year adjustments.
The minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with major course work in civil engineering or a closely related field minimum and 5 years of responsible experience in engineering, including 3 years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Possession of a certificate of registration as a professional civil engineer in the State of California is required.
The annual salary is $162,000 to 173,000. Placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.
