City Engineer - City of Clovis, California
The City of Clovis is a full-service city situated in the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco and bordering the City of Fresno. Clovis is served by California State Highways 168, 41, 99 and 180. Lying at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, which includes Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks, Clovis has been known as "Gateway to the Sierras" since its incorporation in 1912. The City of Clovis has emerged as a dynamic, thoughtfully planned community with a population of over 120,000 residents and a land area of nearly 26 square miles.
The City seeks a veteran civil engineering professional with a broad depth of engineering and supervisory experience and high ethical standards to lead the City’s Engineering Division.
Reporting directly to the Planning and Development Services Director, the City Engineer has direct oversight and supervisory responsibility of the Engineering Division. The City Engineer oversees an operating budget of $6.8 million and 33 allocated full-time positions. The four primary areas of Division responsibility include implementation of the City’s annual and 5-year Community Investment Plan, development review and inspection of development related infrastructure improvements, construction management of City capital projects, and engineering administration which includes grant administration (CDBG) and master planning.
A combination of education and experience for this position include a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience. At least three (3) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity in municipal or county government is also required. Possession of a valid Civil Engineer’s license issued by the State of California is required. A Master’s Degree and California Surveyor’s license are desirable.
The City of Clovis offers an excellent salary and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $148,620.00 - $180,648.00, annually, DOQE. CalPERS 2.7% @ 55 formula applies for Classic Members.
