City Attorney - City of Loveland, Colorado
Approximately 46 miles north of Denver in Larimer County, Loveland (pop. 73,000, 35.32 sq. mi.) is the jewel of Northern Colorado. The City Attorney is appointed by and reports directly to the nine-member City Council. Loveland’s 2018 General Fund budget is $91.7 million, supporting 755 employees. The 2018 Legal Department budget ($1.64 million) supports nine FTEs: the City Attorney, six assistant city attorneys, one paralegal, a legal assistant, and a Deputy City Attorney. Minimum of eight years of experience (majority in local government), plus JD from an accredited law school are required. Colorado law license, active and in good standing, strongly preferred. Applications also accepted from candidates able to obtain admission to Colorado on motion from a reciprocal jurisdiction. Managerial and supervisory experience are preferred. Residency within Loveland’s municipal boundaries is strongly suggested. Salary range is $145,000 to $170,000, depending on qualifications, plus relocation assistance subject to negotiation, and comprehensive benefits.
