With a growing and diverse population of approximately 135,000, Bellevue is the fifth largest city in Washington. The city boasts a skyline of gleaming high-rises as well as a vast network of green spaces and recreational facilities and almost 100 parks. Bellevue's schools are consistently rated among the best in the country. With a City Council/City Manager form of government, the City Attorney reports directly to a Deputy City Manager. The City Attorney’s Office includes civil advice and litigation, misdemeanor criminal prosecution, risk management, and administration. The City Attorney’s Office has 27 staff and a current budget of $18.8M. Candidates should have represented and overseen the representation of a municipality in a broad arena of litigation, including public works, employment and tort liability claims. A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school, admittance to practice law in the State of Washington, and ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal environment is required. The annual salary range is $118,180 to $188,781 DOQE.
