Chief Information Officer - County of Santa Barbara, California

Located on a 122 mile stretch of California’s central coastline, the County of Santa Barbara is a mix of urban, suburban and rural landscapes with a strong economic base in both technology and agriculture. The County is well-known for its world class beaches, mild climate, scenic mountains and numerous parks. This mix of the best of California’s environments makes for plentiful cultural and recreational activities year-round including hiking, water sports, visiting historical landmarks, fine dining and wine tasting to name a few.  The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a new position for leading the soon-to-be-established Information Technology (IT) Department.  Implementation will be phased-in over several budget cycles.  The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing the IT infrastructure, technologies, and data that enable digital transformation. The role allows for the development of next-generation technologies and platforms. The CIO will focus on interoperability throughout the product portfolio and continually adapt IT’s processes and skillsets to ongoing changes in the technology and business landscape. The CIO will design a strategic vision of how technology will transform the business and craft a compelling enterprise narrative on the changes required for success in the County by educating peers and other business leaders.   Typical background and experience include a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in computer science and 7 years of increasingly responsible management experience in a full-service information technology environment.  The annual salary range of the position is $166,422. to $244,566, and the County provides an excellent benefit package.
