Chief Human Resources Officer - East Bay Regional Park District, California

Headquartered in Oakland, the East Bay Regional Park District is the largest regional park district in the nation currently stewarding more than 125,000 acres of land.  This independent special district supports a system of beautiful public parklands and trails in Alameda and Contra Costa counties on the eastern side of the San Francisco Bay. Governed by a seven-member elected Board of Directors, the Park District has a staff of over 800 permanent full-time and 300 annual seasonal employees with a calendar year 2020 budget totaling $276.9 million. 

The Park District is committed to providing the best services to one of its greatest assets – the employees. The Human Resources Department is comprised of 14 full-time employees and a 2020 operating budget of $3.7 million.  Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will be an innovative and experienced leader prepared to engage quickly, thoughtfully, and effectively to assess and evaluate current processes and structure to determine best practices for the Human Resources function within this outstanding organization.

Requirements include at least eight years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in the field of human resources, two of which must have been at the management/ supervisory level, and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, industrial relations, human resources management, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.

While the District will implement a new classification and compensation survey in 2021, the current six-step salary range is $162,406 to $207,272. Classic CalPERS at 2.5% at 55.
