Assistant Director of Human Resources - Solano County, California
With a mix of rural and suburban lifestyles and conveniently equidistant between San Francisco and Sacramento, Solano County (population approximately 450,000) is home to rolling hillsides, waterfronts and fertile farmland. Through 18 operational departments and 3,229 approved full-time personnel, Solano County provides a broad range of public programs and services that span all disciplines. As such, the County organization is supported by the Human Resources Department that is responsible for labor relations and negotiations with 19 bargaining groups, countywide benefit administration, EEO and investigations, countywide recruitment, risk management, and staff training and development. The successful Assistant Director of Human Resources candidate will be experienced in balancing competing demands, prioritizing work, labor relations and negotiations, recruitment, and workers compensation combined with working in a union environment. The typical background for the position includes at least 5 years experience as an Assistant Director or Manager of Human Resources; certification by CalPELRA; a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with major course work in public administration, business administration, personnel management, or a closely related field; at least 2 years experience as a supervisor; and/or progressively responsible and comprehensive experience in the administration of labor relations, recruitment and workers compensation programs. The annual salary range for the Assistant Director of Human Resources is $152,084 to $184,860 based on qualifications and experience, and the County provides an excellent benefit package.
