Assistant County Administrative Officer - Mono County, California

The CAO seeks a local government professional who is a team player, responsive, discrete, professional, kind, and practices open communication. The next Assistant CAO will be a confident leader who can work effectively with the CAO and the Board to provide feedback, guidance, and recommendations on critical policy matters. Candidates who have the ability to lead a team in a collaborative manner, and mentor and commit to developing internal leaders and talent are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is diplomatic, politically astute, has experience with the budget development process, has excellent project management skills and is proficient at multi-tasking. It is expected that the Assistant CAO work well independently yet understands when to keep the CAO informed on critical matters. Experience in rural communities or resort areas with a heavy reliance on recreation for their economy is desired.
Candidates with strong administrative and leadership experience serving in communities of similar size, scope, and complexity as County Administrators, Assistant/Deputy County Administrators, City Managers/Assistant City Managers or County Department Heads are ideal candidates.
The current annual salary range is $142,879 - $173,669. Placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.
