Assistant City Manager - City of Hollister, California

The Assistant City Manager will oversee the Development Services, Engineering, Airport, and Public Works departments, and support the City Manager with special projects, as needed. The Assistant City Manager will provide responsible and complex staff support to the City Council and City Manager. In addition, the Assistant City Manager will be responsible for directing and managing the city in the absence of the City Manager.  

This position serves as a key leader within the organization and acting as the City Manager in his absence.  The ideal candidate will have experience as a Department Head or Executive Team member, have knowledgeable or experience in land use, public agency finance and budget, human resources, labor relations and organizational practices. As a demonstrated leader, the ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of affecting culture change and encourage, coach, and mentor staff to consider innovative approaches in day-to-day operations. The City Manager seeks a strategic thinker and partner who is knowledgeable of innovative approaches to talent management, succession planning, and recruitment strategies to attract and retain a high-performing and diverse workforce.

The annual salary range for this position is $186,068 - $227,302.  Placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.
