Staff of the City Attorney’s Office includes the City Attorney, Assistant City Attorney (ACA) four Deputy City Attorneys, three Legal Secretaries, and administrative staff. The ACA will be an integral member of the City Attorney’s Office team and will be expected to act as City Attorney in her absence seamlessly. The City Attorney is seeking an experienced municipal attorney with people skills and a proven track record of being able to combine legal knowledge with practical advice. Experience in the areas of land use, police procedures, Prop 219, and conflict of interest laws is critical. The individual selected will possess excellent communication skills, have a sense of humor, the ability to explain complex legal issues in lay terms, and demonstrate leadership traits.
JD from an accredited school of law is required as well as a minimum of five years of experience in the practice of public sector law, including demonstrated experience in supervision, management, or administration. The selected candidate will also be an active member in good standing with the California State Bar Association.
Current annual salary range is $133,660 to $162,477, and the City estimates an additional 2.5% COLA as of July 1, 2020. CalPERS 2.7% @ 55 Classic Member; 2% @ 62 PEPRA Member.
